What Is Professional Accreditation?

Professional accreditation from the Society of Management Executives (SOME) is a formal, peer‑reviewed recognition of an executive’s competence, ethical standing, and leadership impact. The Accreditation Journey

A transparent, five‑step process that validates your executive excellence.

Step 1

Eligibility Assessment

Complete a self‑assessment against the SOME Framework competencies. Provide evidence of executive experience (minimum 5–10 years depending on the route), educational background, and professional references.

Step 2

Peer Review & Portfolio Submission

Submit a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your leadership impact — strategic initiatives, financial results, team development, and ethical decisions. Reviewed by a panel of accredited SOME Fellows.

Step 3

Professional Interview

A structured, competency‑based interview with two senior SOME assessors. This is not an interrogation but a professional dialogue to explore the depth and authenticity of your experience.

Step 4

Accreditation Decision

The Accreditation Board reviews all evidence and interview feedback. Successful candidates are awarded the appropriate SOME designation (CME®, FSOME, etc.). Unsuccessful candidates receive detailed developmental feedback.

Step 5

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Accreditation is not a one‑time event. Maintain your credential through ongoing CPD — attending SOME events, publishing insights, mentoring, or undertaking further certifications.
